This 1978 Ferrari 308 GTS is a rare and desireable carbureted version finished in the gorgeous color combination of nero black with a nero black leather interior. One of only 3,219 built, this largely original example has traveled just over 16,000 miles from new. It retains its original period-correct Blaupunkt radio and air conditioning.
The engine pulls strongly to its redline, with a beautiful engine note coming from those four Weber carburetors and the exhaust. The steering is tight, the suspension is supple, and the A/C blows cold. Its original jack, tools, and manuals are included, and even the original factory certification sticker on the windshield.
The 308 GTS was made famous by the television series Magnum, P.I. The car played a starring role in the show for eight seasons from 1980 to 1988, capturing the hearts of many as it chased down criminals on the islands of Hawaii with actor Tom Selleck behind the wheel. A red Ferrari 308 was also driven by Christie Brinkley in the 1983 National Lampoon movie, Vacation. The 308 remains a cultural icon to this day, with Sports Car International naming the 308 number five on the list of Top Sports Cars of the 1970s.
